A Year Spent Investing in Our People

March set the tone for the 2026 busy season. For the annual March event, we rented out Central City Fun Park. The afternoon had something for everyone. The principals joined in the fun and some even decided to take on the roller-skating rink. Nobody fell, which was fairly impressive.

That energy carried us into spring. Several Clearline team members participated in the Vancouver Sun Run, a tradition that has become a meaningful part of our culture. No records were set this year, but someone finally beat Jeff Block by just over a full minute.

Tax season is the most demanding stretch of the year in our industry, and when April comes to a close, we mark that milestone as a team.  This year, we brought all three Clearline offices together for an evening at The Parlour Yaletown to recognize the commitment and effort that each member of our team brings to that period, to every file, every deadline and every client we serve.

In May, we were ready to slow down and set some time aside for professional development focused on team dynamics. Our professional development session this year centered around the Working Genius, a framework that goes beyond the typical personality test. Every staff member completed a short individual assessment that identifies the type of work that energizes them versus what tends to drain them. We came together as a full team to explore how those insights can make us more effective collaborators. The result was a more intentional understanding of how we work best individually and together. We wrapped up our day with a little bit of friendly competition between teams.  The eight-person VR session turned out to be the most entertaining part of the afternoon. Watching colleagues fully commit to dodging virtual zombies while standing in a corner of the room is something you can’t really explain, you just have to be there. Special thank you to Blaze Gourmet Burgers and Gourmet Lunch Ladies for catering the event from start to finish, the food was amazing from breakfast to the post lunch canapes!

It’s been a great start to the year for the team, and we are looking forward to the summer!
