Personal Tax Filing Deadlines for the 2024 Tax Year

Tax season is here, and we want to ensure you are prepared with key dates and resources to file your 2024 tax return on time.

Clearline CPA T1 Return Deadline

To guarantee completion of your T1 Personal Tax Return by the April 30, 2025, deadline, all required documents must be received by April 15, 2025. Submitting your tax information early helps avoid delays and ensures a smooth filing process.

Personal Tax Checklist

To help organize your tax documents, use our Personal Tax Checklist (PTC).  The link to download the PTC will be sent to you after you accept our proposal and sign the engagement letter.  Please download and complete the form before submitting it with your tax documents to ensure nothing is overlooked.  If you did not receive the email with the link to the PTC there was also a link included in our Q1 2025 Newsletter that you can use to access it.  If you can’t find the newsletter please reach out to your Clearline representative to get the link to access the PTC.

Key Tax Filing Deadlines

General Filing Deadline and Payment Due Date

April 30, 2025 – The deadline to file your 2024 tax return and pay any balance owing.

Filing your return on time helps you avoid interest and penalties and ensures no disruption to your benefit and credit payments, including:

  • GST/HST credit (including provincial or territorial credits)
  • Canada Child Benefit (CCB)
  • Old Age Security (OAS) benefits

Self-Employed Individuals and Spouses

June 15, 2025 – If you or your spouse or common-law partner operated a business in 2024, your return is due by this date. However, any balance owing must still be paid by April 30, 2025. For details on making payments to the CRA, visit: Payments to the CRA.

Tax Filing for Deceased Individuals

If you are filing a return for someone who has passed away, deadlines vary based on the date of death:

Period when death occurred Due date for the final return
January 1 to October 31 of the year April 30 of the following year
November 1 to December 31 of the year 6 months after the date of death
