Your 2022 Personal Tax Return

Watch for our annual personal tax email in your inbox the week of February 20, after the Family Day holiday. If you do not receive a copy, please call us at 604-639-0909 or email us at reception@clearlinecpa.ca.

In our email, you will receive a copy of our Personal Tax Checklist. However, if you want to start organizing your information now, you can print or download the fillable PDF by clicking the links below. We have worked hard to keep it simple but there is no question that a lot of information is required. Completing the documents will help us be effective in preparing your tax return and will help you get all your tax deductions, as well as not miss something that results in interest or penalties being assessed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Below you will find two fillable documents:

  • The Personal Tax Checklist must be completed by each adult or couple submitting a tax return. If your information has remained unchanged, just tick the box at the top of the document.
  • The Appendices must be submitted if you are reporting rental income, self-employment income or employment expenses, home office or automobile expenses and/or foreign properties. New this year is the Underused Housing Tax: Please refer to our separate article on whether you have a filing obligation.

Important Dates

Since April 30, 2023 falls on Sunday, CRA’s deadline to file your tax return and pay your taxes is Monday, May 1. However, here at Clearline our offices will be closed on Monday, with our team enjoying a much-needed day off. Our last day filing tax returns will be Friday, April 28, 2023.

As you can appreciate, there are high demands on our time during the month of April. Consequently, we cannot guarantee completion of your return if it is not received by us before April 15, 2023.

If you are self-employed or have a spouse or common-law partner who is self-employed, the deadline to file your taxes is extended to June 15, 2023. However, all taxes owed must still be paid by May 1, 2023.

Annual GST returns for self-employed individuals and/or short-term rentals like AirBnb are generally due June 15, 2023; however, please log on to your CRA MyAccount to confirm your filing due date.
