Important Dates

As you can appreciate, there are high demands on our time during the month of April. Consequently, we cannot guarantee completion of your return if it is not received by us before April 15, 2016.

Canada Revenue Agency’s filing deadline for personal income tax returns is April 30, 2016. If you have an unincorporated business, the deadline for you and your spouse is extended to June 15, 2016 but if you have a tax balance owing for 2015, you are required to pay it on or before April 30, 2016. Unpaid balances will be charged interest at the prescribed rate for each day outstanding. Interest paid on outstanding balances is not deductible for tax purposes. These dates are also in effect for annual GST returns.

To avoid late filing penalties, make sure you file your return and remit any amounts owing by the deadline. Penalties and interest are onerous and are assessed even if you are only one day late. If you cannot file your return on time, please call us to discuss a strategy to minimize your penalty.
